Why horses?
Due to their immense presence, horses make amazingly fitting teachers for personal awareness and professional development. Herd dynamics model corporate scenarios astonishingly similarly. The hierarchy and complex social structure is dependent upon clear boundaries, mutual respect and dominate role selection based on leadership ability. The ensuing safety, collaboration and cohesion within the herd are key to surviving and thriving as nature intended.
Horses sense a person’s energy and motives based on body language and non verbal communication. Their responses challenge participants to remain present, open, honest and clear about themselves and their intentions.
Partnering with a 1000 lb horse compels you to set healthy, respectful and mindful boundaries. Without a sense of security in knowing she has a strong leader which is fundamental to her survival, a horse will either disregard you or challenge your leadership to gain control and thus ensure her safety. Her flight or fight instinct is paramount to the herd’s preservation. When a horse trusts and respects you, she will accept your leadership role and engage willingly because of the much needed comfort and safety you provide.
Working with horses through ground exercises and receiving their immediate feedback creates an awareness of how your thoughts and actions directly affect others. This allows for a pathway towards changing perceptions and patterns of behavior that left unchecked might otherwise undermine success.
Learning to remain optimistic, open minded, self-accepting and confident will lead to mastery of your leadership abilities. You can then more readily act with conviction from a place of truly knowing what motivates you. A greater sense of what matters most to you will bring meaning and purpose to your work life.
Newly gained insights and creative solutions arise from a place of mindfulness.
You will learn to trust your intuition during times of key decision-making.

We cater to the needs of many individuals and companies that are in search of an experiential, holistic and effective way to gain valuable and practical skills in leadership abilities, strategic planning, conflict resolution, organizational shifts and cohesion between top management and staff as well as targeting specified goals. Our executive leadership program is designed specifically for those in leadership roles with at least 5 to 10 years of solid governing experience.
Many, if not all, of the participants have little to no experience being around horses. During the sessions all activities involving the horses take place on the ground, no riding is involved. Some past participants stated they didn’t even like horses before attending. Most of them changed their mind as a result, but that said, liking horses is not a requirement either. It’s not about the horse. it’s about the change the presence of the horse elicits in the attendees. That is the beauty of this work.
The majority of our clientele are brand new to horses and we work closely to ensure each is given the time and space to acclimate to the nature of these magnificent yet powerful beings. Our experienced trainers will be with you to guide you at all times as you gain confidence with the horses. Everyone can move at their own pace which is uniquely suited to them. We feel that what comes up for people during the trainings is part of the work they have to address to move further along in their success story. Facing fear maybe be part of that and we offer support all along the way to encourage you to overcome limiting beliefs. In time you may find that the horses are not so scary!
The planned activities are not designed to be strenuous or requiring great athletic ability; however, we do encourage individuals to pace themselves and if necessary to take breaks or allow others to fill in with tasks best suited to them.
We find that many people discover the experiential component a welcome relief from a sedentary day at the office or a typical classroom setting.
Please speak to us about your concerns and individual needs to determine the suitability of the fit for your situation. Wherever possible we will do our best to make personalized arrangements to accommodate your needs and affect your success in the program.
We acknowledge that working together towards common goals or sharing in consensus or task completion are not the easiest thing to pull off for many people. That said, it is precisely because of the unfamiliarity or lack of practice of our participants that some of the program is dedicated to challenging you to step outside your comfort zone to strive for a level of ease working alongside your peers. Sometimes sharing the burden is not a bad thing. The activities are geared towards lively engagement with times for pause and reflection unaccompanied by harsh judgment. We encourage people to be gentle towards themselves while learning new skills.
